LACY BERRIES

By Lorraine Gafford

An easy brightly colored project for a dreary day.

12″ square for the intermediate crocheter

This crochet design was created when I had seen the color of the yarn and the thought of fresh winter berries. Its enough to brighten anyone’s day.

This was done for a joint effort with other designers to make this beautiful hodge podge afghan that is certain to brighten any space. It was a fun project and I love the way it turned out with the myriad of other styles of blocks.

You can check out the other block patterns as well as the story behind the project here Kristen Holloway Designs.

This is the second of two patterns I made for this project. I hope you enjoy it!

Material

This square is made using Red Heart Soft(#4 Worsted Weight Yarn, 5 oz/256 yds) medium weight yarn

Berry #9779 (Color A)

Deep Sea #9870 (Color B)

Hook sized H/8 5.00 mm

Needle for weaving in ends

Scissors

Measurements and Gauges

Approximately 12″ (30 cm) Square

5 rows with 5 sc + 1.25 inches

Terms Used

Chain (ch) Single Crochet (sc) Double Crochet (dc) Cluster (cl) Treble Crochet (trb) space (sp) stitch (st) begininning (beg) skip stitch (sk st)

Note: This square is worked as a c2c pattern. Until blocked it may come out slightly diamond shaped, but with a firm stitch and proper blocking should not be a problem.

  1. I’m very confused by this… My square is not looking anything like the picture and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I feel like all of my stitch counts are working out, but I’m not getting a design like shown.

    1. Its a c2c, so until you get to row 12 or 13 it looks a little funny and has a bit of a diamond shape until it is blocked

      1. I am not getting a diamond shape. I have worked through row 13 and it is not looking anything like yours. Once I get to this point, I feel like my stitch/space counts are off as well.
